അമേരിക്കയിൽ നിന്ന് ഹവാനയിലേക്ക് പറന്ന കാലം
1960 കൾ അമേരിക്കയിൽ വിമാന റാഞ്ചലിന്റെ സുവർണ്ണ കാലമായിരുന്നു. ആദ്യത്തെ അമേരിക്കൻ വിമാന റാഞ്ചൽ 1961 മെയ് ഒന്നിന് മയാമിയിൽ നിന്നാണ്. പിന്നീട് അത് ഒരു ശീലമായി. ആർക്കെങ്കിലും ക്യൂബയിലേക്ക് പോകണമെങ്കിൽ വിമാനം റാഞ്ചിയാൽ മതി എന്ന അവസ്ഥ. പൈലറ്റുമാർ തങ്ങളുടെ സഞ്ചിയിൽ ഹവാന വിമാനത്താവളത്തിന്റെ ഇറങ്ങാനുള്ള ഭൂപടം വരെ കരുതിയിരുന്ന കാലം. 1968 ജൂൺ 19 മുതൽ ജൂലൈ ഒന്ന് വരെ 12 ദിവസത്തിനുള്ളിൽ നാല് വിമാനങ്ങൾ റാഞ്ചപ്പെട്ടു. 1968 മുതൽ 1972 വരെ ലോകത്ത് ആകെ 364 റാഞ്ചലുകൾ നടന്നപ്പോൾ അതിൽ മുക്കാൽ പങ്കും അമേരിക്കൻ മണ്ണിൽ നിന്നായിരുന്നു.
ഇന്ത്യ – പതിനാറ് തവണ റാഞ്ചപ്പെട്ട ഏക കമ്പനി
1993 വരെ ഇന്ത്യയിലെ ഏക ആഭ്യന്തര വിമാനക്കമ്പനിയായിരുന്ന ഇന്ത്യൻ എയർലൈൻസ് 1971 മുതൽ 1999 വരെ 16 തവണ റാഞ്ചപ്പെട്ടു. ഇതിൽ ഏഴെണ്ണം അതിർത്തിക്കപ്പുറത്തു നിന്നുള്ള സഹായത്തോടെയും ആറെണ്ണം ആഭ്യന്തര പ്രശ്നങ്ങളാലുമായിരുന്നു.
1971 ജനുവരി 30ന് ശ്രീനഗറിൽ നിന്ന് ജമ്മുവിലേക്ക് പോയ ഗംഗ എന്ന ഫോക്കർ വിമാനം ജമ്മു കാശ്മീർ വിമോചന മുന്നണി പ്രവർത്തകർ ലാഹോറിലേക്ക് റാഞ്ചിയതാണ് തുടക്കം. പിന്നീട് 1984ൽ മാത്രം ഖാലിസ്ഥാൻ പ്രസ്ഥാനത്തിന്റെ ഭാഗമായി നാല് തവണ റാഞ്ചൽ നടന്നു. ഒടുവിൽ 1999 ഡിസംബർ 24ന് കാഠ്മണ്ഡുവിൽ നിന്ന് ഡൽഹിയിലേക്ക് വന്ന ഐസി 814 വിമാനം കാണ്ഡഹാറിലേക്ക് കൊണ്ടുപോയി ഏഴ് ദിവസം നീണ്ട ബന്ദി നാടകം നടത്തിയത് ഇന്ത്യൻ വ്യോമയാന ചരിത്രത്തിലെ ഏറ്റവും വലിയ ആഘാതമായി.
ഇസ്രായേൽ – ലക്ഷ്യം വെക്കപ്പെട്ടിട്ടും വീഴാത്ത കോട്ട
ഇസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദേശീയ വിമാനക്കമ്പനിയായ എൽ അൽ ലോകത്ത് ഏറ്റവും കൂടുതൽ തവണ റാഞ്ചൽ ശ്രമം നേരിട്ട കമ്പനിയാണ്. പക്ഷെ ചരിത്രത്തിൽ ഒരിക്കൽ മാത്രമേ അവരെ വിജയകരമായി റാഞ്ചാൻ കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടുള്ളൂ. 1968ൽ റോമിൽ നിന്ന് ടെൽ അവീവിലേക്ക് പോയ 426-ാം നമ്പർ വിമാനം അൾജിയേഴ്സിലേക്ക് തിരിച്ചുവിട്ടു, 40 ദിവസം നീണ്ടു നിന്ന സംഭവം. അതിന് ശേഷം ഇസ്രായേൽ എല്ലാ വിമാനത്തിലും സായുധ സുരക്ഷാ ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥരെ കയറ്റിയും മിസൈൽ പ്രതിരോധ സംവിധാനം ഘടിപ്പിച്ചും ആകാശത്ത് ഒരു ഇരുമ്പ് കോട്ട തീർത്തു. അതുകൊണ്ട് പിന്നീടുള്ള ശ്രമങ്ങൾ എല്ലാം പരാജയപ്പെട്ടു.
