ദുബായിൽ നിന്ന് തെൽ അവീവിലേക്ക് പറന്ന ഫ്ലൈദുബായ് എഫ് ഇസഡ് 1073 എന്ന വിമാനത്തിനുള്ളിൽ സഹപൈലറ്റ് വിമാനം തകർക്കാൻ ശ്രമിച്ചത് ഈ മാസമാണ്. മതതീവ്രവാദ ബന്ധം സംശയിക്കുന്ന ഈ സംഭവത്തിലെ യാത്രക്കാരെ ഇന്ത്യക്കാരനായ പൈലറ്റിൻറെ ധീരതയാണ് രക്ഷിച്ചത്. എന്തുകൊണ്ടാണ് ആകാശം ഇന്നും ഭീകരതയുടെ വേദിയാകുന്നത് എന്ന ചോദ്യത്തിന് ഉത്തരം തേടുമ്പോൾ ചരിത്രം നമ്മെ 1968 ലേക്ക് കൊണ്ടുപോകും.
നാൽപ്പത്തെട്ട് ജീവനുമായി പറന്നുയർന്ന ഭീതി
1968 ജൂലൈ 23 ആണ് ആധുനിക വ്യോമഭീകരതയുടെ ജനനദിവസമായി ചരിത്രകാരന്മാർ കുറിക്കുന്നത്. ഇസ്രായേലിന്റെ എൽ അൽ വിമാനക്കമ്പനിയുടെ 426 എന്ന വിമാനമാണ് ആദ്യമായി റാഞ്ചപ്പെട്ടത്. ലണ്ടനിൽ നിന്ന് റോം വഴി തെൽ അവീവിലെ ലോഡ് വിമാനത്താവളത്തിലേക്ക് പോകുകയായിരുന്നു ബോയിങ് 707 വിഭാഗത്തിൽപ്പെട്ട ആ വിമാനം. എൻജിൻ തകരാർ മൂലം യാത്ര വൈകിയതിനാൽ അതിൽ 38 യാത്രക്കാരും 10 ജീവനക്കാരും മാത്രമേ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നുള്ളൂ.
കാപ്പിപ്പാത്രം തുറന്ന വാതിൽ
വിമാനം റോമിൽ നിന്ന് പറന്നുയർന്നശേഷം പൈലറ്റുമാർ കാപ്പി ചോദിച്ചു. കാപ്പിയുമായി ജീവനക്കാർ വിമാനത്തിന്റെ മുൻഭാഗത്തെ വാതിൽ തുറന്നപ്പോഴാണ് പാലസ്തീൻ വിമോചനത്തിനായുള്ള ജനകീയ മുന്നണിയിലെ മൂന്നംഗസംഘം അകത്തേക്ക് ഇരച്ചുകയറിയത്. ഒരാൾ വിമാനത്തിന്റെ സാങ്കേതിക വിദഗ്ധനെ തോക്കിന്റെ പിൻഭാഗം കൊണ്ട് അടിച്ചു. അൾജീരിയയിലേക്ക് വിമാനം തിരിക്കാൻ ആജ്ഞാപിച്ചു. മറ്റൊരാൾ യാത്രക്കാരെ തോക്കും സൂചി വലിച്ച കൈബോംബും കാണിച്ച് ഭീഷണിപ്പെടുത്തി.
നാൽപ്പത് ദിവസം നീണ്ട ബന്ദിനാടകം
വിമാനം അൾജീരിയയിലെ ദാർ എൽ ബെയ്ദ വിമാനത്താവളത്തിൽ ഇറക്കി. ലോകത്തെ ഏറ്റവും ദൈർഘ്യമേറിയ വിമാനറാഞ്ചലായി ഇത് മാറി. ആകെ നാൽപ്പത് ദിവസം. ആദ്യം ഇസ്രായേലുകാരല്ലാത്തവരെ ഫ്രാൻസിലേക്ക് വിട്ടയച്ചു. പിന്നീട് പത്ത് സ്ത്രീകളെയും കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളെയും മോചിപ്പിച്ചു. ബാക്കി പന്ത്രണ്ട് ഇസ്രായേൽ യാത്രക്കാരെയും പത്ത് ജീവനക്കാരെയും ബന്ദികളാക്കി നിർത്തി.
രക്തം ചിന്താതെ അവസാനിച്ച കരാർ
അഞ്ച് ആഴ്ച നീണ്ട ചർച്ചകൾക്കൊടുവിൽ ഇസ്രായേൽ ജയിലിലുണ്ടായിരുന്ന പതിനാറ് അറബ് തടവുകാരെ മോചിപ്പിച്ചു. പകരമായി ബന്ദികളെയും വിമാനത്തെയും വിട്ടുകിട്ടി. ആർക്കും ജീവൻ നഷ്ടമായില്ല. എന്നാൽ ഈ സംഭവം ലോകവ്യോമയാന സുരക്ഷയുടെ മുഖം തന്നെ മാറ്റി. ഈ റാഞ്ചലിനുശേഷമാണ് ഇസ്രായേൽ വിമാനത്താവളങ്ങളിൽ കർശന പരിശോധന ആരംഭിച്ചത്.
