എല്ലാവരും GDP യുടെ വളർച്ചാ നിരക്ക് മാത്രം നോക്കി ആവേശഭരിതരാകുമ്പോൾ, യഥാർത്ഥത്തിൽ എക്സ്ചേഞ്ച് റേറ്റ് അഥവാ രൂപയുടെ മൂല്യത്തകർച്ച ഈ വളർച്ചയെ എങ്ങനെ ബാധിക്കുന്നുവെന്നതാണ് നമ്മൾ പരിശോധിക്കേണ്ടത്. 2014-ൽ ഒരു ഡോളറിന് 60 രൂപയായിരുന്നത് ഇന്ന് 87-88 രൂപ എന്ന നിലയിലേക്ക് എത്തിനിൽക്കുന്നു. അതായത് കഴിഞ്ഞ 12 വർഷത്തിനിടെ ഓരോ വർഷവും ശരാശരി 3.2% വീതമാണ് രൂപയുടെ മൂല്യം ഇടിഞ്ഞത്. ഇന്ത്യ സ്വന്തം നാണയമായ രൂപയിൽ 10% വളർച്ച കൈവരിച്ചാലും, രൂപ ഡോളറിനെതിരെ 3% ഇടിയുകയാണെങ്കിൽ ഡോളർ ടേമിലുള്ള നമ്മുടെ യഥാർത്ഥ വളർച്ച 7%-ൽ താഴെ മാത്രമായി ചുരുങ്ങും. ഇതേ അവസ്ഥ തുടർന്നാൽ 2026-ലെ $4.2 ട്രില്യണിൽ നിന്ന് 2036-ൽ നമ്മൾ $7.6 ട്രില്യൺ എന്ന സംഖ്യയിൽ മാത്രമേ എത്തുകയുള്ളൂ.
ഡിമോൺ പറഞ്ഞതുപോലെ 10 വർഷത്തിനുള്ളിൽ സമ്പദ്വ്യവസ്ഥ ഡോളർ ടേമിൽ മൂന്നിരട്ടിയായി $12.5 ട്രില്യണിൽ എത്തണമെങ്കിൽ ഇനി മുതൽ ഇന്ത്യ ഡോളർ ടേമിൽ വർഷം തോറും 11.6% വീതം വളരണം. അതിന് രൂപയിലെ Nominal GDP വളർച്ച പ്രതിവർഷം 14.7% ആയി ഉയർത്തേണ്ടിവരും. ചരിത്രത്തിൽ ഒരിക്കൽ പോലും ഇന്ത്യ കൈവരിച്ചിട്ടില്ലാത്ത നിരക്കാണിത്. കഴിഞ്ഞ 12 വർഷത്തെ ശരാശരി വളർച്ച 10% മാത്രമായിരുന്നുവെന്നത് ഇതിന്റെ കാഠിന്യം വ്യക്തമാക്കുന്നു.
“ഇന്ത്യൻ സമ്പദ്വ്യവസ്ഥ ട്രിപ്പിൾ ആകും” എന്ന വാഗ്ദാനം വിദേശ നിക്ഷേപകർക്ക് വലിയ സന്തോഷം നൽകിയേക്കാം. എന്നാൽ ഡോളറിനെതിരെ രൂപ ശക്തിപ്പെടാത്ത പക്ഷം സാധാരണക്കാരായ ഇന്ത്യക്കാർക്ക് ഇതിന്റെ ആനുകൂല്യം ലഭിക്കില്ല. ഡോളറിൽ വളർച്ച നേടാനായില്ലെങ്കിൽ രാജ്യത്തിന്റെ ഇറക്കുമതി ചെലവ്, ക്രൂഡ് ഓയിൽ വില, വിദേശ കടങ്ങൾ എന്നിവ വലിയ ഭാരമായി മാറുകയും അത് സാധാരണക്കാരന്റെ പോക്കറ്റിനെ നേരിട്ട് ബാധിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യും.
