മുൻ ലോക്സഭാ സ്പീക്കർ ഡോ. ഗുർദയാൽ സിങ് ധില്ലന്റെ ജന്മവാർഷികത്തോടനുബന്ധിച്ച് 2026 ഓഗസ്റ്റ് ആറിന് ഭരണഘടനാ സദനിലെ സെൻട്രൽ ഹാളിൽ അനുസ്മരണച്ചടങ്ങ് നടന്നു. ലോക്സഭാ സ്പീക്കർ ഓം ബിർള ധില്ലന്റെ ഛായാചിത്രത്തിനു മുന്നിൽ പുഷ്പാർച്ചന നടത്തി.
രാജ്യസഭാ ഉപാധ്യക്ഷൻ ഹരിവംശ്, പാർലമെന്റ് അംഗങ്ങൾ, മുൻ അംഗങ്ങൾ, ലോക്സഭാ സെക്രട്ടറി ജനറൽ ഉത്പൽ കുമാർ സിങ്, മറ്റു വിശിഷ്ടാതിഥികൾ എന്നിവരും ആദരാഞ്ജലി അർപ്പിച്ചു. ധില്ലന്റെ നിഷ്പക്ഷമായ നേതൃത്വവും പാർലമെന്ററി മൂല്യങ്ങളോടുള്ള പ്രതിബദ്ധതയും ഇന്ത്യൻ ജനാധിപത്യത്തെ ശക്തിപ്പെടുത്തിയതായി ഓം ബിർള അനുസ്മരിച്ചു.
സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യസമരത്തിൽ സജീവ സാന്നിധ്യം
ഗുർദയാൽ സിങ് ധില്ലൻ 1915 ഓഗസ്റ്റ് ആറിന് പഞ്ചാബിലെ അമൃത്സറിനടുത്ത പഞ്ച്വാറിലാണ് ജനിച്ചത്. വാർത്താക്കുറിപ്പിൽ ജനനവർഷം തെറ്റായി രേഖപ്പെടുത്തിയിരുന്നെങ്കിലും ലോക്സഭാ സെക്രട്ടേറിയറ്റിന്റെ ഔദ്യോഗിക ജീവചരിത്രം ജനനവർഷം 1915 ആണെന്ന് വ്യക്തമാക്കുന്നു. സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യസമരത്തിലും കർഷകപ്രസ്ഥാനത്തിലും അദ്ദേഹം സജീവമായി പങ്കെടുത്തു.
പത്രപ്രവർത്തനത്തിലൂടെ ഐക്യസന്ദേശം
സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യത്തിനു ശേഷം ധില്ലൻ പത്രപ്രവർത്തനത്തിലേക്ക് തിരിഞ്ഞു. ഉർദു ദിനപത്രമായ ഷേർ-ഇ-ഭാരതിന്റെ മുഖ്യപത്രാധിപരായും നാഷണൽ സിഖ് ന്യൂസ്പേപ്പേഴ്സ് ലിമിറ്റഡിന്റെ മാനേജിങ് ഡയറക്ടറായും പ്രവർത്തിച്ചു. മതസൗഹാർദത്തിനും സാമൂഹിക ഐക്യത്തിനും വേണ്ടി അദ്ദേഹം നിലകൊണ്ടു.
രണ്ടുതവണ ലോക്സഭാ സ്പീക്കർ
1967-ൽ തരൺ തരൺ മണ്ഡലത്തിൽനിന്ന് നാലാം ലോക്സഭയിലേക്ക് ധില്ലൻ തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കപ്പെട്ടു. 1969 ഓഗസ്റ്റ് എട്ടിന് നാലാം ലോക്സഭയുടെ സ്പീക്കറായി ഏകകണ്ഠമായി തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കപ്പെട്ടു. 1971 മാർച്ച് 22-ന് അഞ്ചാം ലോക്സഭയുടെ സ്പീക്കറായി വീണ്ടും തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കപ്പെട്ട അദ്ദേഹം 1975 ഡിസംബർ ഒന്നുവരെ പദവിയിൽ തുടർന്നു.
ഛായാചിത്രം ഭരണഘടനാ സദനിൽ
സമീർ ദാസ് വരച്ച ധില്ലന്റെ ഛായാചിത്രം 2014 ഫെബ്രുവരി പത്തിന് അന്നത്തെ രാഷ്ട്രപതി പ്രണബ് മുഖർജി അനാച്ഛാദനം ചെയ്തു. ഈ ചിത്രം ഇപ്പോൾ ഭരണഘടനാ സദന്റെ പുറം ലോബിയിൽ പ്രദർശിപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുകയാണ്.
