ഇന്ത്യയുടെ വിദേശ രഹസ്യാന്വേഷണ ഏജൻസിയായ റോയുടെ സ്ഥാപകനും ആദ്യ മേധാവിയുമായ രാമേശ്വർ നാഥ് കാവോയുടെ ജീവിതം സിനിമയാകുന്നു. കരൺ ജോഹറിന്റെ ധർമ പ്രൊഡക്ഷൻസ് പദ്ധതി വീണ്ടും പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചതോടെയാണ് അധികം പൊതുശ്രദ്ധ നേടാതിരുന്ന കാവോയുടെ ജീവിതവും പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങളും വീണ്ടും ചർച്ചയായത്.
വാരാണസിയിൽനിന്ന് രഹസ്യാന്വേഷണ രംഗത്തേക്ക്
1918 മെയ് 10ന് വാരാണസിയിലെ കശ്മീരി ബ്രാഹ്മണ കുടുംബത്തിലാണ് കാവോ ജനിച്ചത്. ലഖ്നൗ സർവകലാശാലയിൽ ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് സാഹിത്യം, ചരിത്രം, പേർഷ്യൻ എന്നിവ പഠിച്ചു. അലഹാബാദിൽനിന്ന് ബിരുദാനന്തര ബിരുദം നേടിയശേഷം 1939–40 കാലത്ത് ഇന്ത്യൻ ഇംപീരിയൽ പോലീസിൽ ചേർന്നു. സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യാനന്തരം ഇന്റലിജൻസ് ബ്യൂറോയിലെത്തിയതോടെയാണ് രഹസ്യാന്വേഷണ ജീവിതത്തിന് തുടക്കമായത്.
യുദ്ധപരാജയങ്ങൾ പഠിപ്പിച്ച പാഠം
1962-ലെ ഇന്ത്യ–ചൈന യുദ്ധവും 1965-ലെ ഇന്ത്യ–പാകിസ്ഥാൻ യുദ്ധവും വിദേശ രഹസ്യാന്വേഷണ സംവിധാനത്തിലെ പോരായ്മകൾ തുറന്നുകാട്ടി. ഇതോടെ വിദേശ രഹസ്യാന്വേഷണം ഐബിയിൽനിന്ന് വേർതിരിക്കാൻ പ്രധാനമന്ത്രി ഇന്ദിരാഗാന്ധി തീരുമാനിച്ചു. 1968 സെപ്റ്റംബറിൽ കാവോയെ ആദ്യ സെക്രട്ടറി റിസർച്ചായി നിയമിച്ച് റോ രൂപീകരിച്ചു. 1977 വരെ അദ്ദേഹം പദവിയിൽ തുടർന്നു.
ആദ്യ പരീക്ഷണം ബംഗ്ലാദേശ് വിമോചനയുദ്ധം
റോ രൂപീകരിച്ച് മൂന്നുവർഷത്തിനുള്ളിൽ 1971-ലെ യുദ്ധം ഏജൻസിയുടെ ആദ്യ വലിയ പരീക്ഷണമായി. കിഴക്കൻ പാകിസ്ഥാനിലെ പാക് സൈന്യത്തിനെതിരെ പോരാടിയ മുക്തിബാഹിനിക്ക് റോ പരിശീലനവും രഹസ്യസഹായവും നൽകിയതായി റിപ്പോർട്ട് പറയുന്നു. രണ്ടാഴ്ചയിൽ താഴെ നീണ്ട യുദ്ധം ബംഗ്ലാദേശിന്റെ രൂപീകരണത്തിൽ അവസാനിച്ചു. സിക്കിം ഇന്ത്യയിൽ ലയിച്ചതുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട രഹസ്യനീക്കങ്ങളിലും കാവോ പങ്കുവഹിച്ചു.
വിദേശ ഏജൻസികളുമായി ബന്ധം
ഇസ്രയേലിന്റെ മൊസാദുമായി രഹസ്യബന്ധം സ്ഥാപിക്കാൻ ഇന്ദിരാഗാന്ധി കാവോയെ ചുമതലപ്പെടുത്തി. സിഐഎ ഡയറക്ടറായിരുന്ന ജോർജ് എച്ച് ഡബ്ല്യു ബുഷുമായും അദ്ദേഹം സൗഹൃദം സ്ഥാപിച്ചു. പ്രൊഫഷണലിസം, അച്ചടക്കം, രഹസ്യസ്വഭാവം എന്നിവയ്ക്ക് പ്രാധാന്യം നൽകുന്ന സ്ഥാപനസംസ്കാരമാണ് അദ്ദേഹം റോയിൽ വളർത്തിയത്.
2028 ഓഗസ്റ്റിൽ ചിത്രം തിയേറ്ററിലേക്ക്
നിതിൻ ഗോഖലെയുടെ ‘ജെന്റിൽമാൻ സ്പൈമാസ്റ്റർ’ എന്ന പുസ്തകത്തെ അടിസ്ഥാനമാക്കിയാണ് ചിത്രം. 1955 മുതൽ 1971 വരെയുള്ള കാലവും റോയുടെ രൂപീകരണവും ആദ്യ ദൗത്യവും സിനിമയിൽ ഉൾപ്പെടും. ലിയോ മീഡിയ കളക്ടീവുമായി ചേർന്നാണ് ധർമ പ്രൊഡക്ഷൻസ് ചിത്രം ഒരുക്കുന്നത്. പേരിട്ടിട്ടില്ലാത്ത ചിത്രം 2028 ഓഗസ്റ്റ് 11ന് തിയേറ്ററുകളിലെത്തും.
